LAHORE: An application was filed in the Lahore High Court on Saturday seeking orders for the chief minister to cancel a party he is to host on April 5 in honour of the Pakistan cricket team.

Petitioner Muhammad Iftikhar Hussain Rajput filed the application in Javed Iqbal Jafree’s petition challenging the award of cash prizes to the national cricket team.

The petitioner submitted that the event would cost about Rs3 million to the public exchequer. He said if it was absolutely necessary for the chief minister to reward the cricketers, he should do so from his own pocket.
