4-year-old faints from heat in DG Khan after teacher 'locks her up' and goes home
The teacher allegedly locked up the child in a classroom to punish her and went home without letting her out

A four-year-old girl was found unconscious in a classroom of a school in Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan District on Monday after her teacher allegedly locked her up there as punishment for talking to her friend during class and went home without letting her out.
The girl’s parents said their daughter, Mehwish Muneer, was a nursery student at the Government Girls’ Primary School Cholani. On Monday, when she did not return home from school, they searched for her in the neighbourhood but failed to find her.
Protesting students lock up principal
Muhammad Muneer, the girl’s father, told The Express Tribune that at 6pm they reached their daughter’s school to inquire about her but the gates were locked. The worried parents then entered the school after breaking the locks and desperately searched every classroom.
“I found my daughter unconscious in a classroom of the school," said the girl’s father.
The four-year-old was rushed to the district headquarters hospital.
Mehwish, after regaining consciousness, said she was talking to a friend during class when the teacher asked her to leave the classroom and locked her up in another room.
"When the school bell rang, everyone left but nobody opened the door of the room where I was locked," she added.

The parents of the girl demanded that the Dera Ghazi Khan deputy commissioner should take stern action against the teacher for her negligence. However, the school principal presented an entirely different view.
“Sometimes students play games and hide in different classrooms. The girl [Mehwish] might have fallen unconscious while playing because of the extremely hot weather,” she claimed.
However, the principal added that the teacher would be interrogated and if she was found guilty of negligence, action would be taken against her.
