Polio eradication campaign ends in AJK
Parents showed responsibility by ensuring their wards were duly administered the drops

National polio eradication campaign concluded on Thursday with administration of anti-polio drops drops to children less than five years of age across the state, officials said on Friday.
Health authorities had set a target to immunise a total of 716,191 children under five years of age with the vaccine throughout the area during the campaign, a state health department spokesman said after successful conclusion of the campaign.
Highlighting the salient features of the three-day anti polio campaign for immunisation of children up to five years of age, the spokesperson said over 2,004 mobile paramedical staff teams were formed whereas 397 fixed units and 124 transit points at prominent public places including bus and wagon stands were set up in all 10 districts including Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Hattiyan, Neelam valley, Kotli, Bagh, Sudhanoti, Haveili, Bhimbher and Rawalakot to administer the anti-polio vaccine drops during the three-day drive.
He said the health department had made adequate arrangements to provide at least 700,000 anti-polio vaccine doses for the entire campaign. At least 63 zonal supervisors looked after the campaign conducted by 481 in-charges of different areas.
Besides, parents also got their children administered with the anti-polio vaccine drops at the fixed centres close to their homes.
The fixed centres were set up at the hospitals, basic health units, rural health centres as well as various other spots to vaccinate the children with the anti-polio drops.
