Nawaz addresses National Economic Council meeting in Islamabad

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said Pakistan is now among the fastest growing economies of the world.
“Pakistan’s economic indicators have significantly improved and this has been acknowledged by international financial rating institutions,” Nawaz said while addressing a National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Islamabad.
Claiming that the federal government was working in harmony with all provinces, PM Nawaz said the country’s development should not be politcised. “It is for the prosperity of every citizen,” Radio Pakistan quoted the premier as saying.

Regarding his recent visit to China, the prime minister said all chief ministers accompanied him to attend the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, sending a positive message to the world that “Pakistan unanimously stands for development”.
Nawaz went on to claim that the government has adopted people centric approach for development and planning. “The GDP growth rate of 5.28 per cent for the current financial year is commendable,” he said, adding the government has increased provincial share in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the next financial year three times more as compared to 2012-13.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, chief ministers of Punjab, Sindh, K-P, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan and other senior officials attended the meeting.
