17,000 youths to sharpen skills
Project aims to economically empower these youngsters by providing sustainable livelihood to people in Layyah district

Around 17,000 youngsters of Layyah district will get skill training under a project launched on Wednesday at an event organised by youth development organisation BARGAD with support from Oxfam in Pakistan.
The five-year project aims to economically empower these youngsters by providing sustainable livelihoods to people in Layyah district. Oxfam Country Director Mohamad Qazalbash said: “The project is designed to economically empower young people hailing from disaster prone communities and provide them with opportunities to secure a sustainable livelihood.”
Youth bulge: Pakistan must leverage its young population
Under the project, BARGAD, Oxfam’s implementing partner in district Layyah, would provide entrepreneurship and skill-based training.
Qazilbash said almost four million young people enter the workforce every year in Pakistan and an estimated 60% of them are employed in low paid and unstable jobs.
