Kharif Season: No water shortage, says Irsa

Advisory committee of Irsa meets to review water situation for Kharif season.

ISLAMABAD:
A meeting of the advisory committee of the Indus River System Authority (Irsa) was held here on Thursday under the chair of Irshad Ali Khan to review the water situation for the Kharif season.

The meeting was informed that 118 million acres feet (maf) water would be available in reservoirs and there is no shortage of water for the Kharif season. The committee also said that 72 maf water would be distributed among the provinces according to their share and 22 maf water would be released downstream Kotri.


The sources in Irsa said that the authority would also send recommendations to the federal government to address their settlement plan of Mangla Dam upraising project so that the dam could be filled up to its maximum level of 1,230 feet.
