Illegal hunting: Officials capture Punjab’s infamous hunter

Nabi was wanted in several cases of illegal hunting while 14 challans had been submitted against him in the court

BAHAWALPUR: Wildlife officials have arrested a hunter for hunting illegally in forests across Punjab on Thursday. The crackdown was initiated on the orders of Wildlife and Parks Director General Khalid Fayyaz Khan.

An official of the wildlife department told The Express Tribune that officials flagged down a vehicle at a picket that was established near Yazman’s Cholistan area and ordered the driver to furnish his identity. “The officials also tried to search his vehicle but he started misbehaving and threatened them of dire consequences,” he pointed out.

However, the wildlife officials took him into custody and shifted him to the police station where he was identified as an infamous hunter Noor Nabi alias Shami Daha. The police registered a case against the accused and shifted him behind the bars.

Meanwhile, wildlife department officials said Noor Nabi was wanted in several cases of illegal hunting while 14 challans had been submitted against him in the court.
