Flower and birds show attracts people in droves

"Spring Flower and Fancy Birds show” begins at the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University in Rawalpindi.

A large number of people flocked to the five-day “Spring Flower and Fancy Birds show” that began at the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University in Rawalpindi on Thursday.


More than 500 flowers of 60 species have been arranged in the shapes of bed and rainbow at the exhibition. Moreover, about 30 varieties of exotic birds including rare species of chickens, parrots, peacocks, pigeons and pheasants are also on display.


The exhibition will continue till Monday and is open to everyone. There are no charges for admittance. A panel comprising specialists from universities and other institutions was constituted to judge the show in a fair manner.

The institutes that are participating in various categories of the show include Combined Military Hospital Rawalpindi, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Rawalpindi, Islamabad Club, Allama Iqbal Open University, Air Force Headquarter, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Dr A.Q. Khan Research Laboratories, Indonesian Embassy, Institute of Floriculture and Landscape, Pakistan Air Force Hospital, Chaklala Cantonment Board, Frolics Landscape Faisalabad, Agriculture University Faisalabad, COMSATS, Museum of Natural History, National Capital Planning Commission, Birds Breeders Association and NEXON.

The show was organised by the horticulture department of the university in association with National Horticultural Society of Pakistan.
