ISLAMABAD: Piyush Singh, the first secretary at the High Commission of India in Islamabad who was accompanying Uzma, was caught red-handed in the courtroom of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani while taking photos of the judge and court proceedings.

A police official, Syed Jaffar Hussain Shah, took notice of Singh’s activities and seized his mobile. Later, when the courtroom officials brought the incident to the notice of the IHC judge, he ordered confiscation of Singh’s cellphone.

Terming it a ‘serious offence’ and violation of the court decorum, the IHC judge ordered Singh to submit a written apology.  “He is feeling very bad and submits apologies to the court,” Uzma’s counsel said. The court, however, ordered Singh to submit written apology while rejecting his verbal apology.

“I fully apologise for the attempt of using mobile in court by mistake. It is requested that I may kindly be pardoned for this,” Singh stated in his written apology.

In the order, Justice Kayani said that Singh was making photographs of the court proceedings which is not allowed, adding that he was caught red-handed. However, Justice Kayani said, he has submitted unconditional apology.
