Media plays vital role in development: Marriyum
Says country on the path of economic and educational progress
ISLAMABAD:
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said media have to play an important role in the promotion and development of education, culture and a knowledge-based economy.
“The government has taken concrete steps to increase the education budget and develop Information Technology based curricula to achieve this end,” the minister said while addressing as chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Education Expo 2017, orgainsed by the Express Media Group.
Aurangzeb said the country was on the path of economic and educational progress, adding that there could be no compromise on the standard of education.
She told the participants that the government was providing modern educational facilities at public institutions and was promoting teachers on the basis of their efficiency. “This will promote a culture of healthy competition,” she added.

The minister said government was focusing on education which had a close relation with the knowledge-based economy. She said Punjab had made great strides in education while other provinces had also increased their education budgets.
“For the first time in the history of the country, pre-school education has also become a priority and Montessori classes are being organised in public sector,” she added.
The minister said the Education Expo 2017 was a welcome step and others should also follow ‘this noble example’. The inaugural session of the expo was followed by information session, documentary, drama competition and case studies.
Students of various educational institutions participated in the expo in large numbers and appreciated the effort to provide access to institutions of higher education under one roof. They thanked the Express Media Group for providing them this opportunity. [TRANSLATION BY ARSHAD SHAHEEN]
