No action taken over PU violence
A number of PU teachers have called on the Punjab CM to intervene
LAHORE:
The Punjab University administration seems reluctant to take action against Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) students who were allegedly involved in the clash on Pakhtun Culture Day on March 21. This was stated by observers at the varisty
On April 13, the PU administration suspended 10 IJT activists for 15 days and issued charge sheets, seeking a reply by April 21. The next day, the university also suspended five students from Pakhtun Students Federation (PSF) and sought a reply over allegations levelled against them within seven days.
Sources in the varsity said the students have submitted their responses; however, the administration did not proceed further, reportedly on the directives of the vice chancellor.
When contacted, the PU spokesperson said letters for a personal hearing would be sent to the students and the administration would take action against those involved in the incident without prejudice.
A number of PU teachers have called on the Punjab CM to intervene and ensure punishments for the culprits involved.
