MARDAN:
The passport of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) local councillor Arif Mardan, nominated in the Mashal Khan’s murder case, expired in August last year and arrangements have been made to put his name on the Exit Control List (ECL), DIG Mardan Alam Khan Shinwari said on Wednesday.

“It’s not true that Arif Mardan had escaped to any other country,” the police chief said, adding that his phone has been switched off since the day the brutal lynching took place at the Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) on April 13.

It is pertinent to mention here that social media has been stormed with posts claiming that the local councillor had escaped to Thailand.

According to the DIG, a special team has also been searching for the accused.

Recently, some videos also went viral online showing the PTI councilor congratulating AWKU students for killing Mashal and urging them to pledge to not reveal the identity of Mashal’s shooter.
