LAHORE: Around 318 Ramazan and 27 model bazaars will open from May 24 across the province.

Arrangements for these markets are in the final stages, said Lahore Mayor Colonel (Retd) Mubashir Javed.

He was speaking to officials of all departments concerned, including market committees and town officials, to discuss the progress on these bazaars.

Essential commodities and edibles would be provided to consumers at concessionary rates during the month of Ramazan, he said. He added the bazaars would remain operational from 9am to 6pm.

“The provincial government would ensure the availability of quality fruits, vegetables and others edibles at these makeshift markets,” he said. The mayor stated essential commodities would also be supplied to impoverished neighbourhoods through trucks at subsidised rates.
