Literature festival: Poets, writers should promote soft image of country

PESHAWAR:
The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) held a two-day literary conference where speakers highlighted various aspects of Pakistani literature and its role in their research papers and stressed the need for national cohesion through literature.

They urged the literati to play their due role to spread the message of peace and tolerance, cultural diversity towards a pluralistic society.

Poets and writers should promote a soft image of the country, they said.


Delegates from across the country participated in the conference and read out papers on the role of literature in the national integration.

PAL Chairman Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio, while chairing the event, said that the basic objective of the conference was to provide a joint platform to the writers from all over the country to share their ideas on national integration. He said that writers Federally Administrated Tribal Area (Fata) would be given additional incentives including monthly stipends and an insurance policy.
