ISLAMABAD: The average daily expenses of Prime Minister’s Office have registered around 10% increase during the last two years which translates into an increase of Rs7.4 million per annum.

Daily expenditure of the PM Office – excluding pay and allowances – stood at Rs230,793 during FY2015-16 while the same expenses stood at Rs210,497 FY2014-15, stated a written reply of the Minister In-charge of the Prime Minister’s House in the National Assembly in response to a query of a lawmaker.

Dr Shazia Sobia of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian had inquired about average per day expenses of the Prime Minister’s Office during the last two years.

In response Minister In-Charge of the Prime Minister’s Office provided details of the expenses of the premier’s office during the past two years which when calculated revealed around 9.64% spike.

PML-N’s carrot and stick approach

The comparison of expenses of the PM’s Office during the past two years showed that these expenses swelled by Rs20,296 per day in 2015-16 compared with the previous year.

The yearly expenses of the PM’s Office register an increase of Rs7.40 million during the last financial year compared with FY2014-15.

It is pertinent to mention here that per annum expenses of the PM ‘s office, according to the submitted figure in the lower house, stood at Rs84.23 million during FY2015-16 while these expenses stood at Rs76.83 million during FY2014-15. The difference of expenditure on per annum basis during the mentioned years stood at Rs7.4 million.

Sources said the PM Office is composed of two major sections – I&P or internal and public sections. The public section deals with issues of public importance while the internal section carries out internal correspondence between the PM Office and others. No separate breakdown of I&P sections has been given in the provided figure.
