11 killed, 10 injured in Upper Dir road accident

The ill-fated coaster was travelling from Chitral to Rawalpindi

UPPER DIR: Eleven people were killed and 10 others injured when a passenger coaster fell into a ravine in Upper Dir on Sunday. A woman and three children were among those killed in the mishap.

The accident took place near Lowari Top. The ill-fated coaster was travelling from Chitral to Rawalpindi.

Road accident in AJK kills two, injures five

The people killed in the accident have been identified as Sirajuddin, Mohammad Shafiullah, Mohibur Rehman, Ameer Arsalan, Syed Habibullah, Syed Kaleemullah, Saadia and Zarnabi and his three children.

The injured include Saifuddin, Niqash Khan, Bashiruddin, Nadia Bibi, Hajra Bibi, Humera Bibi, Tanveer Ullah, Usman, AP Amir and Shahid Iqbal.

The injured passengers were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Upper Dir. Five of them are in a critical condition and have been referred to a hospital in Peshawar for further treatment.

Upper Dir District Nazim Sahibzada Fasihullah and Dir Tehsil Nazim Mir Makhzanudin reached the hospital to ensure the patients were being looked after properly.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak expressed his deep grief over the loss of precious lives in the accident and directed the district and hospital administrations in Upper Dir to provide the best available treatment facilities to the injured passengers.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif too expressed his profound sorrow over the deaths in the accident.
