
The second day of the 2011 Army Polo Championship witnessed a close contest in the first fixture that saw 5 Corps prevailing 5-4 over 2 Corps.
The morale-boosting win for 5 Corps, after their earlier drubbing at the hands of 4 Corps, was made possible by Adnan Abbasi who starred with four goals to his name, while Inam chipped in with one. For 2 Corps, Omar scored three goals and Farrukh contributed one.
In the second fixture, 11 Corps’ face-off with 31 Corps, resulted in an emphatic victory for 11 Corps. The winning team’s Shehzad scored three goals and linked well with Noman Wasif, who scored four times to notch up a 7-2.5 win.
Meanwhile, Rab Nawaz Tiwana and Asif Manzur, who were involved in a collision on the first day of the championship in the match between 10 Corps and 11 Corps, have been ruled out for rest of the championship. Tiwana will be out of action for six months with a broken collarbone, while Manzur is suffering from a broken wrist.
