MULTAN:
Blood donation is a noble cause as it helps save precious human lives, but the people should be made aware and motivated to voluntarily donate blood because mostly they hesitate in this regard and this mindset needs to be corrected.

This was said by Multan Division Commissioner Bilal Ahmed Butt while speaking at the session of Divisional Blood Committee on Sunday. Nishtar Hospital & Medical College chairperson Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomiand others were also present.

He said any healthy person above the age of 18 years can donate blood.

“However, the screening of donated blood and the quarantine of blood and its components represent critical processes that should be followed to ensure that blood units are safe,” he added.

The commissioner maintained, “Based on the screening results, they should either be released for clinical or manufacturing use or be discarded.”

Bilal pointed out two regional blood centres were functioning in Multan and Bahawalpur which were providing services of International level.
