Sindh Assembly PPP MPAs to wear Sindhi topi and Ajrak today
The legislators have not been told why they have to wear their Sindhi icons.
KARACHI:
During the Sindh Assembly session today, all MPAs belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will wear Sindhi topis and the Ajrak.
The legislators have not been told why they have to wear their Sindhi icons. They just know that the protocol officers of the Sindh government gave them this message on behalf of the PPP parliamentary leader.
“We are Sindhis and we love our culture but wearing the Sindhi topi and Ajrak on the orders of high-ups really does not suit me,” one of the MPAs told The Express Tribune. He said that a majority of the members will wear the topis just to appease the party leaders because they have no other option but to follow orders.
Sources have speculated that there may be a resolution in favour of the government or the leadership in the house. The resolution moved by Pakistan Muslim League - Functional MPA Nusrat Seher Abbasi to declare Sindhi the national language and the resolution tabled by PPP MPA Saleem Khurshid Khokhar to condemn the US pastor, Terry Jones, who set ablaze a copy of the Holy Quran, are on the agenda.
Sources added that there are chances that an amendment bill on Lyari and Malir development authorities and an act on Thar Coal Energy Board will also be passed.
