LAHORE:
Punjab is heading in the right direction when it comes to tackling the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Initiatives are reaching out to vulnerable and most at-risk populations, while there are certain innovate methods being used exclusively in the province.

This was stated by University of Florida’s Paediatrics and Infectious Diseases Centre Director Dr Mobeen Rathore. He was speaking at a discussion session organised by the Punjab AIDS Control (PACP) for epidemiologists, HIV/AIDS experts, molecular biologists/virologists and psychologists on Thursday.

“The stigma attached to HIV/AIDS still exists, but now affected people with the illness can lead normal lives by using certain medicines just like patients of diabetes and blood pressure,” said Dr Mobeen.
