Arab-American crowned Miss USA

Express May 17, 2010

Arab-American Rima Fakih emerged as the most beautiful woman at this year's Miss USA pageant on Monday. Fakih beat out fifty other women to take the crown home.

Talking to reporters she said it cost her a car to pay for her to run in the Miss Michigan USA pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

Hundreds looked over as she sashayed in her white gown. A Lebanese immigrant, Fakih told organisers her family celebrates both Muslim and Christian faiths.

Pageant records however did not show whether Fakih was the first Arab American to win the Miss USA title.
