Ahsan Khan pays tribute to Mashal Khan in LSA acceptance speech
Actors wants to use TV to highlight ongoing social issues

Pakistani actor Ahsan Khan, who was lauded by Pakistani and Indian artists alike for his poignant role in critically acclaimed drama, Udaari, took home the award for the Best Actor at the 16th Lux Style Awards last night.

While accepting his award for best actor from Saira Kazmi and Ali Kazmi, Ahsan gave a rather detailed speech about why this award mattered so much to him.

"Of course it’s a great achievement for me but I am happier because with this drama we highlighted a very important social issue," said the Tumhare Siwa star.

Thanking his production team, the co-actors and the writer, Ahsan said that he is glad to see the changing role of television in our society, for him it’s no longer just an entertainment medium but a vehicle of discourse and he was overwhelmed by how people responded to Udaari.
"Television is such an effective medium and there is so much happening around you that you have to make socially aware content. Take the Mashal Khan incident for that matter," he further added
The actor thanked journalists from both the English and Urdu press who supported Udaari when PEMRA had banned the serial. " This all couldn't have been possible without the power of media," he concluded.
