ISLAMABAD: After weeks of conflict between the traders and the CDA over an ongoing anti-encroachment drive in the capital, the civic body on Tuesday agreed to take market committees on board before carrying out operations.

A delegation of representatives from local markets, led by Traders Action Committee President Ajmal Baloch called on Islamabad Mayor and CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz on Tuesday. They raised their concerns regarding the ongoing anti-encroachment operations of CDA in various markets. After hearing their concerns, Aziz apologised for the losses suffered by traders in the ongoing operation.

He assured that CDA would take the concerned market union on board before launching any future operations against encroachment.

The CDA chairman added that after encroachment was identified, CDA would give traders sufficient time to remove them.
