Candidates receive nomination papers in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD:
A number of candidates on Tuesday secured nomination papers for the upcoming by-elections for three Union Councils (UC) of Abbottabad.
The by-elections have been scheduled for May 8.
UC Salhad and Kehal Returning Officer (RO) and Abbottabad Assistant Commissioner Roman Burhana issued nomination papers to 12 candidates of UC Kehal and four candidates of UC Salhad.
Political activities have gained momentum after the issuance of nomination papers and candidates have started door-to-door campaigns to convince voters.
The seats had fallen vacant after the PHC’s Abbottabad bench upheld a decision by the Election Commission of Pakistan to de-seat the incumbents in UCs Salhad, Kehal and Bakot. Candidates can submit their nomination papers on April 19 and 20. The contestants can withdraw their nomination papers till April 25, after which scrutiny of the papers will begin.
