Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali Khan on Monday said even if his son is involved in the brutal killing of Mashal Khan, he should be hanged by the state.
“No culprit, no matter who he is, should be spared from punishment. Even if my son is involved in Mashal Khan’s murder, he must be hanged,” Asfandyar said while addressing ANP workers’ convention in Pabbi, Nowshera.
Mashal, a student of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Abdul Wali Khan Univeristy (AWKU), Mardan was shot in the head and beaten to death by a mob of fellow students on April 13 in the varsity’s premises.

A suspect, who has been in police custody for the past three days over the lynching allegations, claimed on Monday that he had been asked by the administration to testify that Mashal had blasphemous ideas.
