A Pakistani institute has won the prestigious ‘Princess Haya Award for Special Education (PHASE)’ for ‘Institutional Excellence & Outstanding Special Needs Centre’ in South East Asia.
The Institute of Behavioural Psychology (IBP) was selected for the international honour from a total 119 applicants from 22 countries, including India, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Palestine and Jordan, Shama Jivanjee, IBP’s executive director, told The Express Tribune.
The award was introduced by Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of the ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, for special education in 2008 to promote creativity, excellence and specialist expertise in the special needs sector.

“The princess herself honoured the winners of the sixth PHASE at a grand ceremony held at the Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai on Tuesday,” Jivanjee said.
The IBP was nominated in two categories, the second one being ‘Distinguished Board Member’ for Habiba Habib, president, in recognition of 32 years of “selfless service” in the special needs sector, she added.
The IBP is one of the country’s pioneering organisations which has been offering diverse psychology-based services to children, adults & institutions since 1985.
