GUJRAT:
Assailants gunned down three women and a man in Gujrat on Thursday in yet another ‘honour-motivated’ murder in Punjab.

Police said armed men stormed into a house in Tibbi Goriyan within the Civil Lines police limits and opened fire at 60-year-old Safia Bibi, 26-year-old Naheed Akhtar, 30-year-old Parvez Iqbal and Shamim Bibi. The victims were shot multiple times and died on the spot.

The suspects managed to flee the scene before police arrived. Gujrat DPO Sohail Zafar Chattha reached the site along with SP Maaz Zafar to supervise investigations.

Civil Lines SHO Shahbaz Hanjra believed the brothers of Shamim killed the victims in the name of honour. They had suspicions that Shamim, who was also Naheed’s sister-in-law, had an extramarital affair with Parvez.

The bodies have been shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Hospital.
