FBR tasked to track withholding taxes through mobiles
The committe has given a time of three months to resolve the issue about the establishment of a mechanism
ISLAMABAD:
Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication on Thursday was briefed by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) regarding the establishment of a mechanism for connectivity with services of mobile phone operators for monitoring of withholding taxes.
The committee, which was convened by Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi, has given a time of three months to resolve the issue about the establishment of a mechanism.
Responding to the task, FBR’s Information Technology official Nosheen Amber said that the body has already started working on the project and has arranged multiple meetings to resolve issues it was facing.
“We should have real time data every month, but according to our ordinance, tax payers are required to file withholding statements on 15 of the next month,” she said.
