Javed Hamid received two bullets in his leg, say police sources

Project director of Greater Iqbal Park has been wounded in a drive-by shooting incident in Lahore, police sources said. Unidentified motorcyclists shot at Javed Hamid, who was commuting to work in his car, near Sheranwala gate early Thursday morning, sources told The Express Tribune.

The victim was rushed to the city’s Services Hospital for emergency medical treatment where it was revealed that he received two bullets in his leg.

Meanwhile, the suspects managed to escape from the scene. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.

The incident came weeks after a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader was shot dead inside his house in Lahore. The former candidate for the Punjab Assembly was attacked in the Manawan area of the provincial capital. Police later booked the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s lawmaker Sohail Shaukat Butt and seven other suspects for his murder.
