Court sentences man to death for murder

Judge hands down death sentence to Tanvir along with a fine of Rs2 million as compensation money.

A court awarded death sentence to an accused for his involvement in a murder case in Faisalabad on Friday.

The judgment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Arif Hameed Shaikh.

The prosecution told the court that accused Tanvir Shahid, Latif, Allah Rakha, Shahbaz and Sakhawat had gunned down a man Sajid Mehmood over a family dispute in 2016.


After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to Tanvir along with a fine of Rs2 million as compensation money. The accused was sent to District Jail Faisalabad. However, the court acquitted others giving them the benefit of doubt.

Meanwhile, an anti-terrorist court awarded 35 years imprisonment to an accused who was involved in terrorist activities in Sargodha. The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Tariq Mehmood Zargham.

The prosecution told the court that counter terrorism department officials arrested accused Ejaz Hussain from Noorpur Thal on August 30, 2016 and seized arms and ammunition from his possession.
