HEC approves 12 PU research projects

The projects are approved in behavioural and social sciences, life sciences and pharmacy faculties

LAHORE: The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has agreed to provide Rs39.5 million for 12 research projects proposed by various faculty members of the Punjab University.

PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir said this while chairing a meeting of Punjab University Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) at the committee room of the vice chancellor’s office. ORIC Director Prof Dr Tahir Jamil, Punjab University College of Information Technology Principal Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar, Institute of Chemistry Director Prof Dr Makshoof Athar, Department of Political Science Chairperson Prof Dr Umbreen Javed, School of Biological Sciences Acting Director Dr Naeem Rashid and senior faculty members participated in the meeting.

Dr Zafar reviewed the projects accepted by HEC in the faculties of behavioural and social sciences, science, life sciences and pharmacy. He appreciated the efforts of the faculty and said the university administration had the vision to promote research culture in the university and was making efforts in this regard. The administration would encourage all faculty members who were engage in research projects, he said.
