7am:

The alarm goes off but I hit snooze and go back to sleep.

7:30am:

I finally get up to feed my 10-month-old baby. I then wake up and have a glass of plain warm water with one tablespoon of finely grounded flaxseed. It gets my metabolism going! After feeding her, I put her back to bed, as she usually dozes off again. I also go back to bed, as I’m not a morning person at all.

9am:

I wake up one last time and get my day started. I usually have two glasses of water before breakfast. Drinking water first thing in the morning helps rev up metabolism. I make it a rule to eat within 30 minutes of waking up. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. I end up having a piece of fruit, two slices of whole wheat bread with one tablespoon of peanut butter and a cup of green tea.



11am:

I spend time with my daughter and family. After that  I work on the diet plans for new patients. I believe in giving a balanced and personalised diet to all my patients. It’s important to know that everyone has a different physiology and lifestyle, so the diet has to be tailored accordingly.

12pm:

I do my daily cardio which comprises of brisk walking or jogging for 35-40 minutes.

1pm:

I get ready for work and have my lunch. It is mostly comprised of protein, healthy carbs and salad. On most days I either have grilled or stir fried chicken with vegetables, or minced mutton. Although I love rice I try to have brown rice instead of white rice.

2pm:


I get to work and start seeing my patients. I usually have back-to-back appointments. There are always new patients and existing ones who come for their follow-ups. I usually advise people to concentrate on making small changes in their daily routine. I don’t believe in detoxes so I don’t advocate extreme diets. I believe a balanced lifestyle is very important for a healthy body and mind.

6pm:

I’m done with work by 6pm. I then go through my appointments for the following day and discuss all work-related issues with my colleague, Dr Sarwat. We go over patient’s cases and discuss their progress.



7pm:

After seeing my patients back-to-back, I’m ready to head home and spend time with my family.

8pm:

I play with my daughter and spend time with my mother-in-law. We catch up on each other’s day.

9pm:

I end up having dinner by 9pm as I sleep really late. Dinner is either daal with sabzi or fish with vegetables. I have a sweet tooth, so sometimes I end up having a piece of dark chocolate after dinner.

10pm:

I put my daughter to bed and spend time with my husband. We usually end up watching something on Netflix. On the weekends we spend time with our friends, as it is hard to find time during the week.

1am:

I usually try to read before going to bed, which is becoming increasingly difficult these days as I have a 10-month-old baby and I try to get as much shuteye as I can.

2am:

I finally doze off, looking forward to what the next day will bring!
