Adjournment motion: PTI wants land record recruitments investigated
Service centre heads were hired directly instead of going through PPSC.
LAHORE:
The provincial government has been asked to investigate Punjab Land Record Authority recruitments, which were allegedly conducted against merit, and bring those responsible to book.
Through an adjournment motion, PTI MPA Sadia Sohail Rana on Tuesday requested the provincial assembly to order an investigation into illegal recruitments and sack officials who hired employees by violating merit.
She said news reports suggested PLRA personnel were hired on fake educational certificates and domiciles to please certain influential individuals or after huge bribes were paid.
Land record centres were set up in 143 tehsils and are headed by service centre in-charges, who were recruited directly instead of going through the Punjab Public Service Commission, which is the constitutional hiring body.
Sadia alleged most of the SCIs had bogus educational certificates, house addresses, domiciles and character certificates. “Some of them were even hired without character certificates which are necessary,” she stressed.
The PLRA recently came under fire over the last few weeks and sacked 452 service centre officials (SCO) who were hired against merit.
