'Reforms introduced in the judicial system for speedy justice'

CJ says Supreme Court monitoring shortcomings of the judicial system.

ISLAMABAD:

Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry said on Saturday that reforms have been introduced in the judicial system for speedy justice to the people.

Addressing the Judicial Policy Making Committee at the Supreme Court, Chaudhry said that the current judicial policy led to many court cases being disposed off.

The Chief Justice of the apex court revealed that action was being taken against corrupt judicial officers. He further added that the Supreme Court was monitoring the shortcomings of the judicial system.

Chaudhry also added that some targets cannot be achieved due to the low number of judges in the high courts.

The meeting was attended by the chief justice of the high courts and federal shariah courts.
