Seven women appointed in irrigation department
Department appoints seven candidates without issuing list of successful candidates
MULTAN:
For the first time in its history, the district irrigation department has appointed seven women including two sisters as masons.
According to Executive Engineer (XEN) Islam Mustafa these women have been given jobs on quota basis. Few months ago, the irrigation department had sought applications for the posts of gauge reader, mason, janitor, canal guard, gardener, sweeper and mail carrier.
However, neither these appointments were made public nor any list of successful candidates was published. According to the eligibility criteria set for these jobs, a candidate must know swimming and use of axe but none of the selected candidates fulfill the required conditions.
The successful candidates include Ghulam Fatima, Humaira Sarwar, Hina Noor, Misbah Rani, Shazia Arshad, two sisters Rabia Naaz and Shameem Naz.
The XEN said the selection commission has selected these candidates and they were given jobs on quota basis.
