LAHORE: Expressing concern over fire incidents and losses to the business community, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Saturday called for ensuring installation of fire hydrants at market places which are inaccessible for fire tenders. Making the demand, LCCI President Abdul Basit said that concrete measures were required to avoid fire incidents in markets. He added that the government should announce compensation for business personnel who have suffered losses during fire incidents. “The government needs to look into the matter and issue necessary directions in this regard,” he said. “In addition, the electricity infrastructure in congested places should be upgraded because most fire incidents happen due to short circuits.”
