A Pakistani startup called Smart Bandage is competing in the Rice Business Plan Competition in the US. The startup aims to revolutionise the healing of wounds through wearable sensors attached to your bandage.
Smart Bandage is a disposable and low cost bandage that wirelessly sends vital signs of the wound to remote medical staff on their cell phones or other devices in real time.
The bandage is able to asses wound healing progress by tracking ulcer formation, infection, oxygen, pressure, temperature, humidity and blood glucose levels to help doctors make timely decisions.
The competition will be hosted and organised by Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and the Jesse H Jones Graduate School of Business from April 6-8 in Texas, US.
It is one of the 'world’s richest and largest' graduate-level student startup competition. Forty-two teams from around the world will be competing for more than $1.5 million in cash and prizes.
The Smart Bandage team includes Professor Atif Shamim, Waqas Khan, Mian Talha Nasruddin, Mohammed Fahd Farooqui and Sohaib Imran Rana.
