Cash Crop: Cotton supply rises 9.8% this season
Ginning factories across the country received and processed 10.72 million bales of raw cotton

Ginning factories across the country received and processed 10.72 million bales of raw cotton up to March 31 this season, an increase of 9.84% compared to 9.76 million bales in the corresponding period of previous season, showed data released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association on Thursday. According to the 13th and final fortnightly report of the association, out of the total cotton arrivals, ginning factories in Punjab received 6.94 million bales from farmers, which was 15.72% higher than the previous year. Sindh ginning units were supplied 3.79 million bales, up just 0.53% from 3.77 million bales. Textile mills have so far bought 10.17 million bales while exporters purchased 202,356 bales. Of the raw cotton supply processed by the ginning factors, 354,557 bales are lying unsold.
