Two CSD employees injured in Peshawar firing incident

PESHAWAR:
At least two people were injured on Thursday after suspects on bikes opened fire at them near Phandu Road in Jamil Chowk.

The injured, who were employees of the Army's Canteen Stores Department (CSD) shop, were carrying vegetables to the store when the gunmen opened fire at their vehicle, the local police told The Express Tribune.

Officials have identified victims as Abdur Reham, a resident of Nowshera Kalan and the other as, Gul Marjan, a driver hailing from Saray Norang.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where they remain in critical condition.


Former army officer killed in Karachi

Earlier last week, Pakistan Army officer Colonel Tariq Ghafoor was gunned down in Peshawar when unidentified men opened fire at the colonel’s vehicle on Ring Road as he was making his way home.

A security forces official said he was an acting colonel, but was on leave and studying at the University of Peshawar.

Confirming the incident, SSP city said the officer of senior rank received two bullets in the head and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
