KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) threw out on Wednesday an application seeking an urgent hearing of the petition of the former provincial information minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, to take his name off the Exit Control List (ECL).

Headed by Justice Salahuddin Ahmed, a two-judge bench found no urgency in the matter, thus dismissed the plea for urgent hearing.
Memon, who was living in self-imposed exile in London since June last year, had filed a petition against the initiation of corruption inquiries against him and placement of his name on the ECL. He had left the country following a crackdown by law enforcement agencies against corruption in Sindh.

In the petition, Memon had said the federal government had placed his name on the ECL without any reason as despite various requests the petitioner was not being provided details of the memorandum for placing his name on the ECL by the Federal Investigation Agency.
