GoT writer close to signing new show deal with HBO

George RR Martin was answering fan queries on his blog when he broke the news

Fans of the book series A Song of Ice and Fire, the basis for HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones, have a new reason to rejoice. George RR Martin, the writer of the wildly popular books will be signing a new development deal with HBO. That could mean that a new show is coming.

Martin made the revelation on his blog while answering a fan question about another series he co-developed with writer Michael Cassutt, called Captain Cosmos. The show is about a 1940s science fiction writer telling “stories no one else will dare to tell, according to Entertainment Weekly. Captain Cosmos was announced in 2015 and is being developed by HBO.
On the blog, Martin wrote that he was close to signing a new deal with the channel. He didn’t give out any other details about the new deal, stating only that he was exclusively writing for the channel. “I have lots of other stuff in development at HBO,” Marin wrote.
The extent to which Martin will be involved in the Game of Thrones spin-off which HBO is developing is not known as yet. He has, however, in the past indicated that he would be open to HBO doing a show based on his other stories set in the GoT realm. Dunk & Egg are novellas that follow the great grandfather of the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen.
