Poor security: DIG suspends two SHOs over negligence

Punjab DIG Operations paid a surprise and found many officials absent with those present not alert.

LAHORE: Punjab DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf suspended on Sunday SHOs of North Cantonment and Nalaukha and issued a show-cause notice to SHO Civil Lines over negligence and poor performance. According to the DIG spokesperson, Dr Haider paid a surprise visit to North Cantonment and Shadman police stations at 2am and found many officials absent with those present not alert. He suspended all the officials of the Muhafiz Force of Shadman Vehicle Staff and officials deployed at Civil Lines check-post. He also censured and suspended the North Cantonment police station reader. Later, he visited churches and shrines and suspended the Bibi Pak Daman chowki reader for poor security measures and issued a show-cause notice to the Civil Lines SHO. He asked SP Saddar Rizwan Gondal and SP Civil Lines Ali Raza to submit an explanation for their poor monitoring. Dr Haider said negligence in protecting life and property of citizens would not be tolerated and no official would be spared.
