First phase of field operation of on-going census has been completed in five districts of Gilgit-Baltistan including Gilgit, Ghizir, Nagar, Skardu and Ghanche. According to officials, work on 361 blocs has been completed while the work in remaining 359 blocs would be completed before April 15. Survey of remaining five districts including Hunza, Diamer, Astore, Shigar and Kharmang would start in second phase. Meanwhile, Census Coordinator, Muhammad Shafiq visited various areas of Gilgit and its environs and inspected pace of survey. He said that there were 1,246 blocks and 141 circles have been made for the census in the selected districts. As many as 847 census teams are participating in the exercise.
