The Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) passed a resolution on Friday, calling to restart the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at college level i.e. FA and FSc, due to its immense importance in regard with national defence.
The NCC was a form of basic civil-defence training, which was imparted to college students in the past by the Pakistan Army.
However, former President Pervez Musharraf disbanded the practice in 2002.
During the session, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Imran Nadeem moved a resolution demanding resumption of NCC at high school level of FA and FSc. The House passed the resolution unanimously.
Earlier, GBLA had unanimously passed three resolutions calling for establishment of day care centres for children of working women, special package for heirs of assembly members in case of demise and pension for assembly members. APP
