Seven development schemes approved across Punjab

P&D spokesman says all the districts are accorded due priority in allocation of funds.

LAHORE: The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party approved seven development schemes of P&D and road sectors at an estimated cost of over Rs24 billion.

These schemes were approved in the 64th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of current fiscal year 2016-17 presided over by Punjab P&D Chairman Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan.

Provincial P&D Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, all members of the Planning & Development Board, provincial secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant departments also attended the meeting.

In a statement issued on Friday, the P&D spokesman said all the districts in Punjab were accorded due priority in allocation of the development programmes. He said efforts were being made to enhance allocation of funds to the districts in South Punjab because it has a higher population than the other districts.

The spokesman said the government was committed to balanced development of the entire province.

The Punjab Growth Strategy 2015—2018 aims for a holistic approach to development and growth by employing multiple methods that cater to urban as well as rural areas.
