ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) took stern notice on Monday of the authorities’ evasive attitude in a case registered against a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) station chief by a drone victim, saying the court would decide the case by the next hearing.
It is expected that Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui will decide the drone attack case against former CIA station chief Jonathan Banks and his legal adviser John Rizzo on April 7.
Justice Siddiqui gave the interior ministry, the capital police and Islamabad administration a last chance, directing them to submit their reply by the next hearing.

During case proceedings, the court noted that officials have not apprised the court about authorities’ clear stance regarding jurisdiction as well as the case as a whole. Previously, the court had expressed dissatisfaction over the reply submitted.
“Where do you get your salaries from ... Pakistan or America,” Justice Siddiqui asked police officials present. “Is the writ of law for only the weakest?”
Previously, the court had accepted the request of the Islamabad advocate general for time to prepare arguments on the transfer of the murder case from the capital to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Secretariat.
The court had accepted the request and directed relevant officials to assist the court as the petitioner challenged the transfer of the case.
