LAKKI MARWAT: One child has been killed while another was left with serious injuries after a hand-grenade detonated in a village in Lakki Marwat on Thursday.

The incident took place in the village of Gandi Khan which falls in the Sarai Naurang police jurisdiction.

A police official confirmed the news to The Express Tribune.

According to police reports, children living in the area stumbled upon five hand-grenades from an adjacent river.

Subsequently, the youth decided to bring the small bombs back home. At their residence, the youth decided to clean it and a powerful blast took place.

As a result, one child lost his life, while another sustained serious injuries.

Security forces stave off two terrorist assaults

The parents rushed the injured child to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sarai Naurang, where his condition is stated to be critical.

The bomb disposal squad and security agencies disposed of the four remaining explosives.

Moreover, local police started a search operation in the area relating to the ascertaining the identity of who might have brought the weapons to the area.

A few weeks back, security forces carried out a combing operation in the district.
