Load-shedding forces BSEK to write another letter to CM, K-E
Complaints received about power outage during exam hours in centres, says BSEK chairperson
KARACHI:
After receiving several complaints of power breakdowns at examination centres on the first day of the annual exams of 2017, Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) Chairperson Dr Saeeduddin has written a letter to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and K-Electric (K-E) officials.
No load-shedding across country during PSL final, claims Abid Sher Ali
"We had earlier written a letter to K-E, requesting not to carry out load-shedding during exam hours at the centres," Dr Saeed said. The first phase of examination for general and private groups, which started from Monday, will be held till April 15, he said.

The chairperson added that no complaints of cheating were reported on the first day while they have deputed a centre controlling officer and a superintendent at each centre to control cheating. The first exam was of Arabic and Persian. The students are aware of the measures the board has taken to curb cheating, the chairperson said. "This year, more vigilance teams have been formed and each has been assigned four or five schools so it will be easy for them to visit each school frequently," he claimed.
In open letter, CM calls upon parents to help curb cheating culture
In the first phase of annual examinations, 82 centres have been set up across the city for 45,186 students of general group. Out of these examination centres, 49 are for girls and 33 are for boys. The annual examinations for science group will be held in the second phase between April 15 and May 3.
The hub centres, which were made to ease the process of delivering examination papers, have done their job amazingly while the overall performance can only be calculated after the science group examinations are held, the chairperson added. In the areas where the centres have been set up, photocopy shops remain closed during exam hours while Section 144 has also been imposed in the centres by the district administration on the chairperson's request.
CM takes notice of leaked paper
The CM took notice of the examination paper that was leaked in Sukkur. According to the reports, a few question papers of class ninth were leaked before hours in examination, where a large number of people were seen getting copies of it. "Strict action will be taken against those officials involved in this," the CM said, directing boards and universities secretary to submit a detail report and to take action.
