ISLAMABAD:
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday discussed in detail the on-going education reforms in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (G-B).

The members discussed improvement of standards and broadening the base of the education sector in AJK and G-B during the meeting held at Parliament House under the chairmanship of MNA Malik Ibrar Ahmed.


The AJK Chief Secretary Muhammad Jalal Sikandar Sultan informed the committee about the teacher education, merit based recruitment through Public Service Commission and ban on ad-hoc appointments of teachers.

The representative from G-B also apprised the committee about the establishment of Private School Regularity Authority, establishment of Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education and the Establishment of Teachers Certification and Licensing Authority.
