Fatal shootout: CIA police kill two suspected robbers in encounter

A CIA Model Town police team raided a hideout, where the suspects opened fire at them.

LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency police killed two suspected robbers in an alleged encounter in the Factory Area on Sunday. One of the suspects was said to be involved in the murder of three policemen.

Police said they received information that two wanted men were present at a hideout in Muhammad Ali Colony on Kamahaan Road. A CIA Model Town police team raided the hideout, where the suspects opened fire at them. In the ensuing encounter, police said, the two suspects were shot dead.

As news of the encounter spread, extra contingents of police were called in to the spot. They cordoned off the area and took the bodies in custody for medico-legal formalities. Police have collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded statements of witnesses.

The men were identified as Aamir Shehzad alias Aamri and Ramzan alias Jaani.

Initial investigations suggested the suspects were involved in many cases of robberies and murders as well.

Aamir was said to be involved in the killing of Kahna police station Investigation In-charge SI Khalid Virak, Shadbagh SHO inspector Tajamul Butt and CIA Kahna Constable Rehmat Ali.
